Thoughts on kids....

Just had some cool thoughts about raising kids. It seems that when kids are little it's all about quantity and quality of time that you spend with them. As they get older and enter teenage life I think quality becomes much more important. It seems then that it would make more sense to work less when your kids are young and ease into a heavier workload if you choose as they get older. Just a random thought...

Another amazing day here in sunny but chilly Trail. I wanted to share some pictures of our sailing trip with JoJo's Mom and brother Chris. We met them at Lund, a little docking community just past Powell River. We such a relaxing and fun time. It was refreshing to get back to the basics. Eating, sleeping, playing...just being! We ended up in Desolation sound where the water is remarkably warm. Perfect for swimming and jumping off the boat and little cliffs in the area. The fishing was hot. JoJo and I couldn't keep the Redsnapper and rockcod off our line at one of our "secret fishing spots". There was caught and devoured oysters, anchovies, mussels and yummy prawns. One of the best little trips I've had in a long time! Enjoy the pictures.

Bella Coola Beauties (the fish!)

I've been staying with my good buddy Hector who's finishing up his electrical apprenticeship here in Trail. Here's some pictures of some of the spring salmon he and his fishing family caught this summer..

Life in Trail

Another great day stamping out disease in Trail. I'm here in the West Kootenays for a month doing a family practice elective. People here are so down to earth and friendly. After work I went on a mission to find a cool spot by the mighty Columbia river which splits the town in half. I ended up at a place called Gyro park where I might a young guy carrying a Safeway Bag full of beer and a flyrod. He says it's a great spot to catch Rainbows on a dry fly. I'm going to head out there tomorrow morning to see if I get lucky (Not that kind of lucky JoJO!!). Wish me luck!

Let the blogging begin!

Well, howdy y'all! Chantelle and Jay inspired me to get a blog up and running. JoJo and I don't have any cute babies yet to talk about but I guess we should be able to come up with something. ...How about the huge mountain bike crash I had the other day at Red Mountain in Rossland. One of the lifties was on his break and thought he'd take me down the toughest trail on the mountain. The trail was super fun but at the bottom was a 4-5 foot drop off of a plank and I felt courageous. Next thing I knew I was doing a pencil dive onto packed unforgiving ground. I smoked the top of my head pretty good and bounced my left butt cheek off of what must have been a sharp rock. I'm healing up now though and should be ready for my next adventure soon! Well, off to stamp out disease!!
